dc.description.abstract This literature review is the first of two literature reviews developed to inform a proposed longitudinal study on financial literacy and knowledge among one of New Zealand’s indigenous tribes, Ngāi Tahu. The aim of this review is to define the notion of financial literacy, discuss its importance and highlight recent advances in research and policy, all with particular reference to New Zealand and Ngāi Tahu. Antecedents of financial literacy are identified and critically discussed in relation to their ability to influence financial decision making and financial wellbeing. en_NZ
