dc.description.abstract This report was commissioned by the owners of Nursing Home Help Service Ltd (NHHS Ltd.), to review their current joining process (recruitment, selection, and retention), and to provide comments on a proposed staff ranking system, and submission to provide an exclusive staff placement service for a major public healthcare provider. The author undertook a thorough review of NHHS Ltd's current Human Resource (HR) practices and relevant material, and conducted interviews, a written survey, and researched the relevant literature to compile this report. Overall; NHHS Ltd's joining processes were comparable with other similar organisations operating in New Zealand. However, a number of improvements were identified from survey responses and the literature, which can readily be implemented to enhance the company's operations. In particular, an improvement in the company's documentation, processes and computer system; their media selection, style and content of recruitment advertising; and the adoption of a staff ranking system. The specific recommendations are detailed in Chapter Six of this report. The author cannot recommend proceeding with the proposed exclusive placement service for the major public healthcare provider as the political climate in public health is opposed to further outsourcing of services. However, NHHS Ltd. Have prepared a valuable submission which may have commercial appeal to substantial private healthcare providers. en_NZ
