dc.description Please note that this is a searchable PDF derived via optical character recognition (OCR) from the original source document. As the OCR process is never 100% perfect, there may be some discrepancies between the document image and the underlying text. Note that Figures 1 and 2 are not very legible due to the relatively poor print quality of the original document. Clearer versions of these figures have been created and attached as separate files (Figure-1.pdf and Figure-2.pdf). en_NZ
dc.description.abstract In this paper is discussed the preliminary development of a Diploma in Medical Informatics which will comprise courses offered entirely through the Internet in the form of World Wide Web documents and electronic mail. Proposed use of such educational technology for the delivery of these courses within a distance learning environment is based upon a conversational framework developed by Laurillard (1993) and an associated classification of this technology according to the length to which elements within the conversational framework is supported. en_NZ
